Bay Area Senior Advocates – BASA

The Bay Area Senior Advocates (BASA) is pleased to announce the availability of mini-grant funding to support projects that address the needs of area seniors.  BASA is a community-based collaborative organization that is working to improve the quality of life for older adults throughout the Grand Traverse Region.  Comprised of over 70 non-profit and for-profit agencies, BASA seeks to address issues that make it difficult for the area’s aging population to age successfully.

Who can apply?

The BASA Mini-grant program is providing funds from $1,000 to $5,000 for community-based projects that address one or more of the interest areas outlined by BASA (see the Identified Issues section).  Projects will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation and merit of the proposal as described in the application
  • How well the project aligns with BASA’s strategic direction
  • Demonstrates collaboration, including with non-traditional partners such as television stations, youth groups, and faith-based organizations.

Both for-profit and non-profit organizations may apply for funding; funds will not be distributed to individuals. The organization must have a Grand Traverse or Leelanau county address. While BASA membership is encouraged, it is not an eligibility requirement.
